Fantasy Football Flyers: Week 9

To whom it may concern,

Those of you who have been riding the likes of Cam Newton, Adrian Peterson or Calvin Johnson all year long, I politely welcome you back to reality for a week. You now know how the rest of us feel!

QB: For those of you who have Stafford or Newton on bye weeks…

Matt Ryan – He is playing against the winless Colts whose defense is disastrous outside of Freeney and Mathis.

Alex Smith – He doesn’t usually put up flashy numbers, but he got Braylon Edwards back and could have a big game against a sliding Washington Redskins football team.

RB: With ALL DAY AP, MJD, Best and the two-headed RB in Carolina all on byes, here are some guys to look to…

Shonn Greene – The Bills are playing great football, but give up a lot of points to fantasy RBs, look for Greene to come up big this week.
Jackie Battle – Though both McCluster and Jones get sparing carries, I believe we have only gotten a small taste of what Jackie Battle can do. He has a great matchup vs. the Dolphins after a big game vs. SD.

WR: Megatron won’t be catching multiple TD’s this week; and neither will Steve Smith. These guys are more than capable of scoring double digits…

Julio Jones – It may seem like I’m picking on the Colts, and that’s because I am. They have no secondary; expect a big day from Jones while the Colts attempt to stop White and Turner.

Jordy Nelson – The Chargers secondary struggled with Bowe and Baldwin, imagine what Aaron Rodgers will do with Jennings and Nelson. I could just put "Any Green Bay Packers WR" here but that seems too easy.

TE: With Lewis, Olsen, Shockey, Rudolph and Pettigrew out, here are some other options…

Brent Celek – The Bears will have their hands full trying to stop all the Eagles speed, but don’t sleep on Celek, Vick loves to hit his tight end. I smell a TD or 2 here.

Jermaine Gresham – Finnegan will be covering AJ Green most of the game, I expect Gresham to get a lot of LB’s on him. Expect Gresham to see a lot of passes his way.

D/ST: I doubt that any of you have the Jags, Vikings or Panthers defense, but the Lions are one of the top fantasy scoring defenses (Thanks Tebow). Here are some good matchups…

Oakland Raiders – I could just post the cliché “See above” but I’m better than that. Tebow is struggling that’s no secret. The Raiders defense is nasty and will look to create even more turnovers against a Broncos team that doesn’t have much talent on offense.

Kansas City Chiefs – TAMBA! The Chiefs aren’t only putting up points in their winning streak, but they’re playing solid defense by applying a lot of pressure on opposing QB’s, creating a lot of turnovers. It also doesn’t hurt that they are playing the winless Dolphins lead by Reggae Bush.
