NFL Power Rankings: Week 14

1. (1) Green Bay Packers (12-0) – Green Bay proves once again that they are clearly the best team in the NFL. The Giants gave them a battle but Aaron Rodgers led them down the field like it was nothing. This defense can be exposed, but you have to be able to score A LOT of points. The Packers also clinched the NFC North title with their win this weekend.

2. (2) Baltimore Ravens (9-3) – The Ravens look like a team gearing up for the playoffs with their dominant run game and ball hawking defense. As long as Joe “Flaccid Arm” Flacco continues to be efficient, this team could be playing into February.

3. (3) New Orleans Saints (9-3) – The Saints offense looks like an offense that could play in a shootout with the Packers. It all comes down to their defense and if they can slow teams down just like they did to the Lions.

4. (5) Pittsburgh Steelers (9-3) – The Steelers looked like the dominant team in their matchup with the Bengals this Sunday showing they can still pound the rock and stay explosive with their talented, quick WR’s on the outside. We all know what that defense is capable of doing.

5. (6) San Francisco 49ers (10-2) – The 49ers bounced back from their loss with a shutout against the Rams. St. Louis isn’t a very good team but a shutout is a shutout. Alex Smith made some impressive deep throws, which will be key for their success going into the future. The 49ers also became NFC West champions with their win over the Rams.

6. (4) New England Patriots (9-3) – The Patriots handled their business against the Colts on offense, but their defense is a bit of a concern giving up that many points to the Dan Orlovsky led Colts. Brady and that offense can only take this team so far.

7. (7) Houston Texans (9-3) – The Texans are a very resilient team that continues to win despite key injuries. They have lost Matt Schaub, Matt Leinart, Arian Foster, Andre Johnson and Mario Williams for extended periods of time. This defense is playing as good as any and the offensive line is one of the best in the league.

8. (14) New York Giants (6-6) – The Giants played a great game against the Packers and got a moral victory if there is such a thing. I like Eli Manning and this offense especially with Bradshaw back in the backfield. This team will win the NFC East, yeah I said it!

9. (8) Atlanta Falcons (7-5) – The Falcons didn’t play well at all against the Texans which was surprising. Matt Ryan did not have a good game and the defense couldn’t stop T.J Yates, which has to be a concern going into the future.

10. (10) Oakland Raiders (7-5) – The Raiders have looked so great the past few weeks and then got completely outplayed by the Dolphins. Let’s hope they get Darren McFadden back soon so they can get back to pounding the ball and playing solid defense.

11. (11) Cincinnati Bengals (7-5) – The Bengals got outplayed by a better football team in the Steelers. The Bengals defense is solid but they gave up some big plays. Their offense seems to be limited to just Benson and Green, they will need more players to step up and contribute.

12. (9) Dallas Cowboys (7-5) – The Cowboys showed how inconsistent they are yet again this week. They scaved by on Thanksgiving but couldn’t escape with a win against the Cardinals. Demarco Murray has to run the ball to take pressure off of Tony Romo or this team is in trouble.

13. (13) Detroit Lions (7-5) – Tough schedule for the Lions as they had to play the Packers and then the Saints. There has to be concerns in Detroit not only about their losing but also about their lack of self-control on the field. First Suh, now Logan, Young, Burleson and Pettigrew…

14. (15) Denver Broncos (7-5) – Tebow strikes again! As long as the Broncos continue to run the ball effectively and pass the ball without turning it over they will win games. This defense is a playoff caliber group and can help them win some close physical football games.

15. (16) New York Jets (7-5) – The Jets didn’t look very good in the first half of their game against the Redskins but Mark Sanchez stepped up when it mattered in the 4th quarter. Not to mention Shonn Greene scoring 3 TD’s himself. I am concerned about this defense though because they don’t seem to be the same dominant group they have been the past few years.

16. (17) Tennessee Titans (7-5) – The Titans have their offense rolling as CJ2K has emerged from his slumber. This team could make a run at the playoffs with the Texans playing their 3rd string QB. I like where this team is heading. All this despite having Kenny Britt on IR.

17. (12) Chicago Bears (7-5) – The Bears struggled to do anything on offense without Matt Forte in the game. I don’t know how good this team is without Jay Cutler at QB. The Texans have stepped up to the challenge, but the Bears have not.

18. (21) San Diego Chargers (5-7) – With the Raiders losing, the Chargers playoff hopes shine a little brighter. The San Diego offense finally played up to their ability and showed us what they are capable of. Let’s see if they can keep this up and make a run at the AFC West crown.

19. (22) Seattle Seahawks (5-7) – The Seahawks are the definition of hot and cold. This week on Thursday they looked great doing basically whatever they wanted on offense. If Lynch can continue to pound the rock this team has an outsider chance of making a run at a wildcard spot.

20. (25) Miami Dolphins (4-8) – Despite their Thanksgiving loss to the Cowboys, this team has been on a roll! The Dolphins completely shut down the Raiders running game and dominated them all game long. Matt Moore has this offense playing well and Tony Sparano has to be feeling good about himself.

21. (24) Arizona Cardinals (5-7) – This time around the Cardinals didn’t get bailed out by Patrick Peterson, but rather Larod Stephens-Howling! The Cardinals aren’t winning pretty, but they certainly are playing better.

22. (26) Kansas City Chiefs (5-7) – The Chiefs defense looks to be back in their 2010 form playing well against both the Steelers and Bears. They aren’t going to win very many games scoring only 10 points on Hailmary passes but they got away with one this week.

23. (23) Buffalo Bills (5-7) – The Bills came up short again this week as they continue to play bad defense which hurts their offense as well. They haven’t looked the same since they lost Fred Jackson and Ryan Fitzpatrick seems to be feeling the pressure of his big contract.

24. (18) Philadelphia Eagles (4-8) – Once again the Eagles disappoint with an embarrassing loss on Thursday night to the Marshawn “BEAST MODE” Lynch and the Seahawks. Desean Jackson needs to be benched and this team needs a new defense coordinator ASAP!

25. (28) Carolina Panthers (4-8) – Carolina rode their win against the Colts into Tampa Bay and dominated the matchup. Cam Newton now leads the league in rushing TD’s and set an all-time record for rushing TD’s by a QB in one season. At this point everyone knows it’s coming, but they still can’t stop SUPERMAN!

26. (20) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-8) – Just when I thought this team might hit their stride with Blount running the ball they get completely destroyed by the Panthers. I was impressed by Josh Johnson and his play at QB though. (Watch out Josh Freeman.)

27. (19) Washington Redskins (4-8) – The Redskins are clearly having QB issues and it’s tough to win without consistent QB play. The one silver lining is that Roy Helu looks to be the real deal down in Washington.

28. (27) Cleveland Browns (4-8) – The Browns struggles continued as they had no answer for Ray Rice on the ground. Hillis seems to be the only bright spot on this team outside of their strong secondary.

29. (29) Jacksonville Jaguars (3-9) – The Jaguars played a good first half against the Chargers besides the interception that San Diego quickly turned into a TD. MJD is a beast but Gabbert is going to have to play better if this team wants to win games.

30. (30) Minnesota Vikings (2-10) – The Vikings are hurting without AP but Gerhart and Harvin both had awesome games against the solid Broncos defense. The Minnesota defense needs to play better against the pass especially with the great pass rush they have up front.

31. (31) St. Louis Rams (2-10) – The Rams looked like a team starting a backup QB when they got shutout this weekend by the 49ers. Steven Jackson averaged less than 2 yards per carry and Lloyd did basically nothing. The sooner they get Sam Bradford back the better.

32. (32) Indianapolis Colts (0-12) – The Colts offense looked 1000x better with Dan Orlovsky leading the way. Yes, the Patriots defense is very bad but at least the Colts showed signs of life in this game. They are still in the doghouse, but are inching closer and closer of escaping.
